As result of COVID19 the new normal is that we are now spending longer than ever before washing our hands, so in response I created the project, Sink Paintings. After I painted a sink in my parents house, "Upstairs Studio Sink", in London, I collected photos of other peoples sinks by posting about it on my instagram, asking people to send me a photograph of their sink. To this I received 23 sink snaps, so far I have managed to paint the first 10 in the sequence.
This sequence has been a way to connect with the outside world during covid19 lock down in London. Asking for these snaps, is both an impersonal thing, but also something that becomes intimate as I spend the time to really look at the spaces. Every sink has the same function, but at the same time they are all slightly different.
